Shining Hope for Communities employs full-time staff in Kibera and the United States. Volunteer position availability is dependent on the time of year, and volunteer experience. All volunteers must be over the age of 21, and are required to sign our legal release form. If you are interested in volunteering with Shining Hope for Communities, please email Jessica at Jessica@shininghopeforcommunities.org. In your email, please include a detailed description of your availability, skills, and experience, and attach a resume.
In the past, volunteers have provided everything from long-term IT support to puppet-making classes and library cataloging assistance. We are eager to hear your ideas of skills and talents you have to offer to our programs. Please don’t hesitate to contact us!
During the summer, we host a more structured annual Summer Institute program at the Kibera School for Girls. If you’re interested in learning more about this program, or longer term volunteer internship opportunities, please check the “Work with Us” link on our homepage.
